About me, my journey, & how it informs our work
Former A+D journalist turned entrepreneur. Speaker, coach, channel. Mom of four (two boys and rescue cat and dog). Wellbeing X Design is a series of evidence-based frameworks to design life, work & sleep within your parameters to thrive. Secret sauce: neuroscience + quantum field.
I was born a type-A perfectionistic overachiever with disordered eating as a way to control things out of my grasp growing up in a family-of-origin with domestic violence. My healing journey began in my early 20s with trauma-informed yoga (I didn’t even know what that was at the time)—it was there, in Savasana, where I finally stopped bracing, and for the first time in my life I felt safe in my body. I wept.
I knew after my son was born, that I needed to advocate for myself. I went through months and years of social work and marriage counseling to shift out of victim mindset and into my authentic, empowered self. I exited my abusive marriage when my son was 22-mos.
Years later, after my second son was born, my journey deepened when I encountered a somatic coach who helped me put my mind in service of my heart and map my intuition as a felt sense in my body. There were still more layers of work, so after getting my yoga certification, I studied with a Buddhist Monk, who helped me to recover from burnout and chronic Lyme’s disease by moving beyond my stories and words, to glimpse unity consciousness and the Ground of all Being through meditation—and I could finally achieve restorative sleep.
Aware of the need to reprogram my brutal metacognitive voice, I crawled through Sarah Peyton’s, Your Resonant Self, to cultivate a warm, resonating inner voice that made my mind a kinder place to inhabit. I also discovered Bessel van der Kolk’s work, The Body Keeps the Score and Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal theory, which gave me a deeper understanding of how the ancient art of Yoga had rewired my brain + body for safety & connection, and released trauma from my cellular memory using ‘kriyas’ or cleansing yoga practices (specifically, breath-work & yogic eye movements). Soon after that, I discovered Flow Consciousness, and Flow Mastery’s powerful neurobiological reprogramming techniques to clear limiting beliefs and program in liberating beliefs.
Most recently, I have been studying spirituality via John O’Donohue, Eva Pierrakos (Pathwork of Self-Realization), and the anatomy of Archetypes, Trauma, and False Anxiety, with Caroline Myss, Gabor Mate, & Dr. Ellen Vora respectively.
This all informs my work as a coach who practices on five levels: somatic, emotional, mindset, behavioral, and unconscious. I have earned two coaching certifications, my CLC and CHC. Currently, I am deepening my expertise by studying under a somatic psychotherapist at the Institute for Coaching Mastery. I have coached globally, from North America, to Europe and Asia.
